2026–2030 Strategic Plan

The last year has been super exciting for us at Nusantara Arts, free intro music and dance courses, Moonlight Gamelan Valentine, Two Islands One Gong, incredible new programming and performances all around. More people than ever are experiencing Indonesian performing arts here in Buffalo, over 23,000 audience members in 2025 alone. And we're having a lot of fun doing the work! If you could have shown me where we have gotten to now when we started 10 years ago, I might not believe it was possible. Our community has really embraced Indonesian arts and culture and come together to help us build something beautiful.
Behind all that fun, our team has been working on something big: our new 5-Year Strategic Plan for Nusantara Arts. Because for us to really get where we want to be, it's going to take some strategic work. Here's some of what it lays out:
Hiring dedicated events planning, logistics, and development staff
A program and space study to determine our full facility needs (currently in progress)
A capital campaign to fund a permanent, accessible home for Buffalo's Indonesian cultural community and gamelan program.
A large-scale signature Indonesian Arts festival for Buffalo
Growing local and national recognition of our programs and artistic excellence
Board development around our major new strategic priorities
This is a big plan for 5 years. It touches on pretty much everything we do and it calls for some major changes and evolution for the organization infrastructure. The purpose of it all though is to make the art we do more impactful, meaningful, and accessible to the community. We invite you to take a look. It's ambitious and exciting. We're ready for it, and we think Buffalo is too.
