For nearly a decade, Nusantara Arts has opened the doors of Indonesian music and dance to Buffalo, inviting people of every age, background, and ability to sit together, strike a gong, and discover something extraordinary. Now, we’re ready to take the next step toward the future we’ve always envisioned: A community where every beginner class is free.

Our beginner gamelan and Balinese dance programs have changed countless lives. We’ve seen students walk in shy or uncertain, and walk out glowing with confidence and connection. We’ve watched immigrants rediscover cultural pride, musicians find new creative homes, and families learn together across generations. Over the last year we’ve discovered far too often that cost has been the significant barrier keeping someone from participating or taking that first step.

That’s why this year’s campaign is so important, especially now.

Our goal is to raise $20,000 by December 31st: enough to make all beginner classes free for the entire year ahead, the first of many years of free classes to come.

Your gift directly supports:

  • Free access to beginner gamelan and dance classes for 100 students (our goal for 2026)

  • Ongoing community gamelan sessions, where anyone can keep learning, playing, connecting, and performing alongside our acclaimed Indonesian artists and teachers,

  • Maintenance of instruments, and purchasing costumes, and teaching materials for students.

  • Pay for local and visiting teaching artists who make this magic possible.

This isn’t just about removing a fee... it’s about removing a barrier to belonging. It’s about ensuring that the sound of gamelan, the beauty of Indonesian dance, and the joy of shared creativity remains open to our community, always. We are looking forward to giving more people the ability to say yes, and you can help them do that.
